WW - Universal Genève Tri-Compax chronograph, ref 12553, manual wind, 38mm x 45mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original 18K yellow gold snap back case with rectangular pushers, no strap, original champagne dial with applied gold numerals, day-month apertures inset at 12, four inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording, subsidiary seconds and date with inset phases of the moon, 17J cal 287, s#1010294, triple signed. Personally this cataloger has always thought that the Universal Tri-Compax punches well above its price point in almost every single way. A fabulous lot for the watchmaker in search of a great restoration candidate.
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, all calendar functions advance and operate properly, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, light oxide to steelwork; excellent dial with ample light surface spotting; fine gold hands with light oxide to hour; lightly polished case shows very little wear, several small dings to rear and case sides; crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
